A 2004 Thurston graduate, Jessica went on to George Fox University where she played 4 years of soccer and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She returned to Thurston in 2008 as the Varsity assistant coach for the colts.
In 2009, Jessica became the Varsity Women's Coach at Thurston. In her 1st season with the Colts, the team earned a Midwestern League title and made it to the 5A State Semi-finals.
Kirsten is a 2011 graduate of George Fox University and is joining the Thurston Women's Soccer staff for the 2011 season.
Kirsten Cardwell was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Colts from 2004-2007. She was a 3x 1st team All-Midwestern League forward/midfielder, 1st team All-State and Midwestern League MVP her senior season (2007).
After graduating from Thurston, Kirsten went to George Fox University to play soccer and major in Psychology. Kirsten recieved All Northwest Conference Player of the Week 14 times. She was a 1st Team All-Northwest Conference Forward and also received three other All-Conference honors as well as placing herself on the Top 10 list for career goals and assists at GFU.
Melissa Leighty is a 2011 graduate of George Fox University and a 2011 addition to the Thurston Women's coaching staff.
Melissa played soccer for 4 years at George Fox and also ran track. She was a 4 year All-Northwest Conference selection, receiving 1st team all Conference as well as 3 other honors. She was Bruin Association Player of the Week 12 times for soccer and 9 times for track. She went to nationals in track twice; once as a heptathlete and the second time in the 4 by 100 meter relay.
Melissa will be an assistant coach to both Jessica and Kirsten as well as the defensive specialist. Melissa is a nurse, so along with coaching she will also be our team nurse/trainer!
