The Westview Boy's Basketball Program consists of the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Junior Metro teams all the way up to the Varsity team. Our belief is that we want to provide an opportunity for our players to be in a classy, competitive program that all involved can be proud of. We want to develop our players athletically and academically so that they can successfully face all their challenges.

We have a very dedicated group of coaches that will work hard and do what they can to help every player develop to their maximum potential. Be proud to be a Wildcat!

2012 SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION AND SIGN UP FLYER

 Open gyms are on Mondays and Weds from 6 to 7:30.

We will start Monday, April 23rd.  

Presented by Pat Coons on Feb 6, 2012 to incoming freshman basketball players @ WHS

Open Gym:

·         Starting approximately early May – weekdays

·         ‘Open Gym’ at WHS on all 3 courts – Upper & Lower Gyms

·         1 ½ hrs per night - 10 min warm-up/shooting, then timed games

·         2 nights/week (likely Tues & Thurs, but possibly Mon & Wed - TBD)

·         Check website for updated information

·         No cost, no pre-registration, just show up and play

·         All high school age players participate (you will be the youngest participants)

·         WHS Coaches cannot technically ‘coach’ so they’re “Open Gyms”

Metro Area “Summer League”:

·         Starting May 29th thru mid-to-late June

·         Check website for updated information

·         2 Freshman Teams – No Cut!  (1 JV and 1 Varsity team as well)

·         First few nights will be 2 hr practices as WHS (6-8 pm or 6:30-8:30 pm)

o        Get organized and learn a few plays

o        Defense:  Man-to-Man

·         Start playing weeknight League Games by 3^rd night

o        Play around the Portland Metro area

o        Westview is one of the many host schools

o        Freshman games start at 4:30 pm

·         Schedule:  10-15 games

o        3 weeks:  play games Monday, Tuesday & Thursday nights

o        Plus 2 weekend tournaments

·         Cost:  Approximately $50-$75 to participate

o        Fees cover cost of courts & officials, etc.

·         Uniforms will be issued for the season

·         Various WHS Coaches involved

·         Goal:  Exposure to high school level basketball

·         If you cannot make it, you, as the player are responsible for contacting the coach to let them know – no penalty, but communication is required

·         Teams have the potential to vary greatly in #’s on any given night depending on turnout & availability

·         Everyone in this league is theoretically ‘playing up’ to the next school year age, but you will occasionally play against true freshman rather than 8^th graders

Summer Basketball Camp:

·         Mon, Jun 25 - Thurs, Jun 28, 2012 (the 2^nd week after school is out)

·         8:30 am – 2:30 pm

·         @ Westview High School

·         Mixed in with high school players through incoming Juniors

o        Coaches at this camp are adults and/or college age athletes

o        The incoming Seniors are ‘coaching’ at the 3^rd-5^th grade camps at this time

·         Flyers and registration information will be posted on the website

·         Conflicts, Questions, Concerns:  Players should communicate personally with their coach
